For 95% of GTA homes, architectural asphalt shingles remain the best value. They handle freeze-thaw cycles well, have wind ratings up to 130 mph, come with 30–50 year warranties, and are widely stocked and serviced.
For flat and low-slope sections, modified bitumen (SBS) is our default. It's tough, forgiving, and lasts 25–30 years when properly installed with the right flashing details.
Metal roofing is a great long-term investment (50+ years) but costs 2–3× asphalt and is best suited to specific architectural styles.
