Most homeowners in the GTA are paying between $8,000 and $18,000 for a full asphalt shingle roof replacement in 2026. The range is wide because pricing depends on the size of the roof, its pitch, how many layers need to come off, the condition of the decking underneath, and the shingle system you choose.
The biggest single variable is square footage. A typical Toronto semi-detached might be 15–20 roofing squares (a square = 100 sq ft), while a large detached home in Vaughan or Oakville can be 30–40 squares.
The next variable is pitch. Steeper roofs are more dangerous to work on, require more safety equipment, and take longer — expect a premium of 10–25% over a walkable-pitch roof.
Underneath the shingles: if your decking is rotted or delaminated, it needs to be replaced. We include a per-sheet price in every written quote so there are no surprises.
Finally, the shingle itself. Architectural shingles from Owens Corning, GAF, and IKO carry different price points and warranty lengths. Upgrading to a premium designer shingle can add $2,000–$4,000 but doubles the expected life of the roof.
